Weekend Morning Anchor

Details:

The WLWT-TV Weekend Morning Anchor/Reporter leads our four-hour newscasts on Saturday and Sunday each week.  These newscasts are #1 rated.  WLWT is searching for someone who can bring the energy of live reporting to our Cincinnati anchor desk. In addition to credibility, poise, and personality; we???re looking for an anchor who also wants to head into the field and break big stories. Our next anchor/reporter must be able to tell compelling stories and execute energetic live shots. Our anchors are newsroom leaders who help mentor and grow producers and reporters. Our anchors write and edit scripts with conversational communication in mind. We are looking for a versatile, enterprising self-starter who is fast, efficient, works well under tight deadlines, can develop sources, and has excellent live reporting skills.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Delivers scripted and ad lib material with professionalism, personality, and purpose
  • Works with and guides reporters and producers in newscast production??? 
  • Plans, gathers and assembles stories on day-of news or special project assignments
  • Works with or without a photographer to gather and edit compelling video and captivating sound
  • Coordinates with news managers and producers to develop stories that go beyond surface details, that accentuate unique enterprise angles, and have exclusive content
  • Develops a network of sources who provide tips, early access to information, and allow the reporter to break stories of significance 
  • Will contribute pictures, video and text updates to mobile platforms consistently throughout the day 
  • Can juggle multiple stories and projects at once, demonstrates exceptional time-management skills by meeting all deadlines under extraordinary pressure 
  • An ability to summarize information into easy-to-understand components??? 
  • Unwavering journalistic integrity and ethical standards 
  • Appears on behalf of the station at public events
  • In-person attendance is required

Experience Requirements:

  • Past anchor experience required??? 
  • Past reporting experience (2-5 years) required
  • Demonstrated ability to enterprise and uncover
  • Your demo reel should be indicative of your everyday work

Qualifications Requirements:

  • Proven Anchor with ability to connect with viewers, in addition to strong reporting skills
  • Ability to operate mobile transmission devices and use the latest technology 
  • Can work in all weather conditions and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Valid drivers license, may require driving company vehicle and a clear driving record
  • Ability to work varied shifts, including overnights and weekends
  • Can deal with the stresses and pressures of time-sensitive newscast production 

Education:

  • Related experience and/or training considered as well as a combination of education and experience.

WLWT-TV has an immediate opening for a highly motivated and creative News Videographer/Editor to work in a competitive news market. Our ideal candidate has an excellent eye for???visual compelling storytelling and is passionate about combining strong writing and storytelling with great pictures and sound. This candidate must be able to use ENG cameras and advanced editing software and be creative with editing and effects under tight deadlines. This position will cover news stories as assigned. Must be a true team player.     

Job Responsibilities:

  • Efficiently operate ENG cameras and equipment, including TVU, microwave and satellite technology.
  • Edit video in the field and in house, for newscasts under tight deadlines.
  • Work collaboratively with reporters and anchors.
  • Nonlinear editing (using Adobe Premiere) of newscast elements including PKGs, VOs, VOSOTs, OPENS, TEASES and preproduction material.
  • Proficiently edit newscasts.
  • Effectively collaborate with producers, and managers to produce high quality stories.
  • Maintain standards for all edited material.
  • Taking in ENG and SNG feeds.
  • Any other shooting or editing duties as assigned by news managers.
  • Ensuring proper storage and organization of media files.
  • Maintain news archives.
  • FAA licensed drone pilot a plus
  • Can easily carry up to 50 pounds.      

Experience Requirements:

  • Professional experience with nonlinear editing software (Adobe Premiere or equivalent) required.
  • Military on-air producing experience will be considered.

Qualifications Requirements:

  • Ability to work on linear and non- linear equipment.
  • Proficiency editing with Adobe Premiere.
  • Ability to edit on non- linear equipment, including Final Cut Pro, Avid and Edius.
  • Must be able to handle and juggle multiple editing assignments under strict deadlines.
  • Knowledge of current television production techniques. 
  • Familiarity with mass communications law and media responsibilities.
  • Communicate effectively with photographers and producers.
  • Must be able to record multiple feeds on a digital encoding system.
  • Able to search for source materials from multiple outlets and platforms.
  • Able to work in a fast paced, detail-oriented environment with calm, skilled execution.
  • Possess a valid drivers??? license and good driving record

Education:

  • Related experience and/or training considered as well as a combination of education and experience.

Operations Engineer

WLWT, the Hearst Television owned NBC affiliate in Cincinnati has an opening for a part-time Operations Engineer to join the team and assist in technical and production requirements for on-air programming, live and pre-recorded.  The Operations Engineer will be responsible to communicate effectively with all departments, as this is integral for a smooth outcome of newscasts. This position supports all station efforts in-house and on remote location.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Operate studio equipment such as robotic camera system, audio equipment including audio board, production switchers, graphics systems, and video servers.
  • Operate master control equipment including switchers, automation systems, video servers, EAS devices, graphics systems, and monitoring devices.
  • Complete daily FCC requirements.
  • Provide support for producing content and executing station projects.
  • Work closely with IT and maintenance engineering teams to support critical on-air systems.
  • Edit content using Adobe products as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by engineering management.

Qualification Requirements:

  • Minimum of six months of experience working at a commercial television station or production facility, or college level equivalent.
  • Experience operating master control using automation a plus.
  • Knowledge of broadcast television operations.
  • Intermediate experience with computers and PC-based systems.
  • Ability to perform with accuracy while under pressure.
  • Ability to multi-task accurately.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues independently with aptitude to escalate appropriately.
  • Ability to follow instructions, verbal and written.
  • Flexibility to work various days and shifts as assigned especially holidays and weekends.
  • Ability to work effectively with other team members.
  • In-person work required.
